Water for Life
Under the “Water for Life” programme, Muslim Aid provides permanent water connections for vulnerable families.
More than 2,100 water connections were provided to poor households in rural villages who had to travel long distances to fetch drinking water.
Muslim Aid also provided more than 50 Mini Water Supply Systems, which can be utilized by around 10 families.
Access to potable water is intended to ensure families are healthier and assist in their income generation activities, as well as for home gardening and agriculture activities.

Water for Life
The “Water for Life” (WFL) program by Muslim Aid Sri Lanka (MASL) is a vital initiative focused on improving the quality of life, health, and economic conditions of vulnerable, often rural, communities by providing sustainable access to safe, clean drinking water
Provision of Permanent Water Connections: The primary activity is installing permanent pipe-borne potable water connections for vulnerable families, particularly women-headed households, who lack access due to financial constraints.
MASL has provided over 2,100 water connections to poor households in rural villages, reducing the long distances families previously had to travel to fetch drinking water.
Mini Water Supply Systems: In addition to individual connections, Muslim Aid has provided over 50 Mini Water Supply Systems, which can be utilized by around 10 families each, serving the needs of small clusters of the community.
Holistic Impact: Access to potable water is intended to:
Ensure families are healthier by minimizing the risk of waterborne diseases (like Chronic Kidney Disease).
ÂAssist in their income generation activities and support home gardening and agriculture activities by allowing them to use water for farming and through the use of wastewater.
ÂEmpower women and girls by reducing the time they spend hauling water, freeing up time for paid work and education.
Targeted Areas: The project focuses on disadvantaged areas, including the Batticaloa and Trincomalee Districts in the Eastern Province, where access to pipe-borne water is a critical issue.
