Muslim Aid Sri Lanka, with the funding support of UNHCR,handed over hospital equipment to the Negombo Base Hospital

On Monday the 29th of June , Muslim Aid Sri Lanka ( MASL) , with the funding support of UNHCR handed over a set of hospital equipment  to the Negombo Base Hospital. The medical items included 4000 PPE kits, portable trollies; emergency medicine carriers, Infrared Thermometer; Pulse Oximeter and Laryngoscope.

The event was organized by the hospital management of Negombo Base Hospital, chaired by the Director Dr. Nihal Weerasooriya. Mr. Shaheel Thajudeen, Protection Officer – UNHCR and Mr. Faizer Khan, Country Director – Muslim Aid Sri Lanka also graced the occasion.

Dr. Jayalath – Deputy  Director of  the hospital coordinated the event while doctors, nurses, staff and Muslim Aid’s Senior programme Manager Mr. Asan Saleem also participated in the event.

In line with the World Refugee Day which is celebrated on the 20th of June every year, the UNHCR representative handed over brochures to the participants that showcases artworks of refugee children and selected food recipes from  refugee families who are from different countries.

To mark the event, the hospital management also organized a tree planting session reflecting the hospital management’s efforts to make the hospital premises a nature friendly and green environment within next couple of years.
