Muslim Aid, with the aid of funding partners, recently launched a Handloom Weaving centre in the village of Kappalthurai in the Trincomalee district.

The centre – a social enterprise model was launched with the aim of providing job opportunities for youth, especially young girls, so that they could gain financial independence and break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability they have been facing all their lives due to the war and economic instability that ravaged the North-Eastern part of Sri Lanka.
